About Cape York Helicopters in Cairns North
From our head office in Cairns, the company oversees its extensive charter fleet of both piston and turbine helicopters. This has now extended to a fleet of ten aircraft, 16 staff members with bases at Cairns and Horn Island and offering an advanced level of service and experience Australia wide. Our international approval also allows us fast and easy access into Daru Island, PNG from our Horn Island Base. Our infrastructure and knowledge of Cape York and the Torres Strait allows us to deliver fast, reliable and economical service to all our clients. Fuel dumps throughout the Cape and Torres Islands reduce fuel ferry time.
Operational planning allows clients to share charters often halving costs. Our local contacts, allow clients quick access to information, improving performance and viability. First established in 1990 by Yvonne and Dennis "Brazakka" Wallace, Cape York Helicopters began as 2 person, single helicopter operation. In October 2012 Brazakka decided to move into full-time retirement and sold his share in the company to Yvonne.
The company still remains a family affair with daughter Nicole coming on board in 2010. After spending six months on Horn Island as base manager, she returned to Cairns to take over the role of operations manager. Cape York Helicopters is committed to achieving the highest possible standards of safety for its employees and clients.
